AKKORD takes part in the prostep ivip Symposium 2020

The virtual prostep ivip symposium in 2020 attracted over 1,000 international participants from the PLM community. Dr Julian Schallow (IPS) and Andreas Eiden (VPE) were able to present the results of the AKKORD joint project at the symposium.

Insight into the activities and research results in AKKORD

For the first time in 23 years, the world’s largest, manufacturer-independent meeting in the PLM sector was held as a web conference. This did not dampen the interest in the exchange of information on current trends in digital product development and manufacturing – on the contrary: at times, more than 1,000 participants followed the live lectures. The main topics on this year’s agenda were model-based systems engineering and the challenges of system development with regard to security and cross-company collaboration. The AKKORD project was also presented within this framework. The two research partners IPS and VPE, represented by Dr Julian Schallow and Andreas Eiden, gave a presentation on the human, organisational and technical challenges in Industrial Data Science projects.

In addition to numerous international speakers, the representatives of the AKKORD consortium presented various perspectives on challenges in the practical implementation of Industrial Data Science projects within the framework of research in the AKKORD context in a combined lecture with Andreas Eiden as the on-site representative and Dr Julian Schallow, who was digitally connected.

They highlighted that a structured approach, a certain level of data maturity and a interdisciplinary team are the prerequisites for a successful project. In the further course, the importance as well as the adaptation of these basics for and in the development of the AKKORD platform was presented. The research and coding of a data-based assistant for the development of innovative business models is an important goal of the project. Another goal is integrated, user-based data analysis, which will be developed and implemented in AKKORD through a modular structure. Competence development within these projects for the entire value network complements these approaches. The basis for the various goals is a powerful, comprehensive data backend on which the AKKORD target architecture is built.
