Tenth AKKORD consortium meeting in Munich and Geretsried

The organisers of the tenth AKKORD consortium meeting were mosaiic and PolyMerge. Over three days AKKORD-results were presented and workshops were held in Munich and Geretsried. Furthermore, the first partners were able to conclude their project participation.

Finalisation of the research areas three to six at PolyMerge

After a joint visit to the Munich Oktoberfest the evening before, the 10th consortium meeting of the AKKORD research project started in Geretsried. There, the participants went to the company site of the consortium partner PolyMerge. At PolyMerge, the first step was a guided tour of the production facilities. The company is characterized by its high degree of innovation. This became particularly clear in the experimental hall, where PolyMerge presented its modern machines for plastic welding. After the tour, the research areas three to six were completed by the operating partners in presentations.

At the beginning, RapidMiner and the Institute for Production Systems (IPS) from the Technical University of Dortmund showed what results they were able to achieve in the research area five “analysis modules and configuration”. The focus here was on the AI-Toolbox. It is integrated into the AKKORD Work&Learn-platform and represents the data analysis part of it. The modules for the industrial data analyses are created and uploaded in the AI-Toolbox. User companies can use the existing modules to create a comparable data analysis with their data. To enable the consortium partners for the platform, an exemplary use case for beer production was used. Using this example data set, the participants had to create modules with the help of a manual. This guided workshop identified potential for the platform as well as for the manual. For future users, an instruction video will be created that explains in detail how the creation of modules in the AI-Toolbox works. Explanations of the scope of work can be found here: work report 1, work report 2, work report 3.

In the second research area, “Development of new collaboration possibilities and business models”, the German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) has presented its final contents for the project conclusion. This includes, among other things, an evaluation of semantic data to derive potentials in the Business Model Canvas. You can find a deeper insight into the results in the work report 1, work report 2 and work report 3 from this research area.

Afterwards, the research area four “Competences and recommendations for action” around the work on the Work&Learn platform was completed. For this, the Chair of Vocational Pedagogy in Technical Subjects (BTF) from Hamburg and NEOCOSMO presented the final version of the platform with all functions. During the final phase of the AKKORD research project, more courses will be created in the learning modules to make the use of the platform more versatile and powerful. It should be noted that the platform will continue to be operated beyond the completion of the participation of NEOCOSMO in the project. Information about the research area four can be found here: work report 1, work report 2, work report 3.

Furthermore, the Chair for Virtual Product Development (VPE) from Kaiserslautern and CONTACT Software presented their results for the research area six “Data Backend System”. The new spider connection between the backend system and the AI-Toolbox deserves special mention. It enables the connection via a URL to the ISGAT environment of RapidMiner, so that data is directly connected to analysis modules and dashboards can update automatically in real time. Further information on the work in the research area six “Data Backend System” can be found here: work report 1, work report 2.

Workshops on the final report at mosaiic

On the third day of the consortium meeting, a workshop on the joint final report was planned. For this purpose, the participants met at mosaiic in Munich. The workshop discussed how the project results of the AKKORD research project could be published. The consortium decided to publish all results in an anthology. For this purpose, the workshop divided the final report into chapters, which will be written by working groups in the consortium. The anthology will be published at the end of the project period.

Outlook for the final project phase

At the end of the research project, the consortium partners are concentrating on further integration (work package 7) and validation (work package 8) of the content created. Work reports on this will follow in the coming months. In addition, the partners are working on their demonstrators that will disseminate the content of the research project (learning station, Carrera race track, sentiment analysis). In addition, further content will be created on the Work&Learn platform and the AI-Toolbox until the new project end date (31.03.2023). A large part of the consortium will continue to actively participate in the project. As of 30.09.2022, the consortium partners CONTACT, NEOCOSMO, PDTec and DFKI have left the project. All four will remain with the project for further inquiries.

The consortium would like to take this opportunity to thank mosaiic and PolyMerge for the successful planning and implementation of the tenth consortium meeting.
