Second Milestone and fifth Consortium Meeting of the AKKORD Joint Project.

The project meeting for the second milestone on 26 and 27 November 2020 also had to take place digitally due to the worldwide pandemic situation. Instead of on site in Saarbrücken, DFKI and NEOCOSMO hosted an entertaining, productive web meeting.

Completion of the 2nd milestone with focus on the four performance areas.

The first day of the meeting was used to present the progress in the individual work packages. Here, all partners were able to present great progress. A concept for guided collaboration and the live presentation of individual learning modules of the learning platform represented the first part. The presentation of an overview of all planned analysis modules as well as an elaborated version of the concept of the data backend with a demonstration of the Data Model Canvas completed the overview of the progress of the AKKORD collaboration platform in terms of content. The current status of integration into the reference architecture was also presented. However, the impact of the pandemic on the project progress became clear, which made collaboration much more difficult.

Progress of the applied research projects in the use case implementations

The second day of the consortium meeting focused on the individual use cases of the AKKORD project. Miele was able to present progress in the topics “Q2025” and the analysis of data from networked devices. ERCO is working on integrated order forecasting, which is being implemented with RapidMiner. Meanwhile, an analysis of ERCO’s social media channels also took place. Volkswagen is working on strengthening the design function of industrial engineering by reducing effort for manual comparisons and research as well as avoiding multiple solution development by automated analysis of process data. NEOCOSMO was able to make the Work&Learn platform live for internal use and carry the first implemented functions into the consortium with the FdT . DFKI was also able to present an implementation concept, which includes the recording of opinion values with the help of sentiment analysis in the field of Natural Language Processing. Finally, Mosaiic presented excerpts of a study in the form of a cross-industry, qualitative survey on Industrial Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.

Specification of toolkit implementations during a digital workshop

The meeting concluded with a practical workshop, which drove the implementation in the reference toolkit in small groups. DFKI and NEOCOSMO can look back on a productive web session, which gave space to previous progress and new ideas alike. All project partners are confident to successfully advance the project.

The consortium is pleased about PolyMerge’s entry and looks forward to the further course of the project.
